correction

It was pointed out that I erroneously published a picture of a plush, rather than real dog. Picky, picky. Here's a vrai Chinese Crested. Seamless.

dos chinese cresteds

This is the breed that is always being forced to play punk in TV commercials, poor things. Here they are all covered up in layers of blue.

frank (left) and sammy

There is a lot of interesting history to be had about these two guys but their owner was on her phone and so only snippets emerged: Sammy is from Greece, Linda Ellerbee is somehow involved with getting dogs out of Greece (why and how unclear) and Frank came to New York to help out with the recovery/cleanup effort at Ground Zero, or rather his owner did, but appropriate housing couldn't be found for him and so he ended up bunking with Sammy. At any rate, they're both awfully friendly; couldn't be nicer. The Muttropolitan Diarist is keen to hear the longer version of their biographies, so here's hoping we all meet again soon...

congratulations, uno!

15-inch beagle Uno won best in show at the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club Show and how could he not have? His looks, his plucky gait, his can-do attitude, his unbelievable star quality...it was clear once he got in the ring the night was his. If you don't already know, Uno is the first beagle to be crowned #1 at Westminster. Here he is enjoying his champeen silver bowl and before the big event, training backstage at Madison Square Garden. Note: these pics and the one below were not taken by the Muttropolitan Diarist.

somebody uno might like to meet

A certain Maltese named Pawsi did not win any ribbons at Westminster but I can only imagine when she steps out of the salon she is something else.

molly the toy poodle

This muddy-footed little creature put on quite a performance in order to get a treat.

molly's Seussian doppelganger

Her meek yet enthusiastic attitude and looks bring to mind the Grinch's put-upon dog, Max.
